MAP testing
We are getting ready to begin our computerized MAP testing in math. Students will be given a goal to try and reach based on their last third grade testing score. We take MAP testing 3 times a year in the fall, winter, and spring. If you are curious about what MAP tesing is, you can connect to the MAP link under parent links on the school's homepage. This information from testing will further help teachers to plan for the classroom and meet individual students needs.
Math news
We are currently in beginning our unit on multiplication. We are spending our first week reviewing basic facts and then we will move on to harder concepts. You should have seen my multiplication letter explaining how your child can earn an ice cream sundae, just from knowing their facts! Please encourage your child to practice their facts at home to keep them fresh in their minds. I cannot stress how much we multiply in the fourth grade. Thanks for your support.
Science news
In science we are starting our unit on weather. We have already learned about the water cycle and are moving into cloud types. We soon will be focusing on storms, which the kids love the best! We will become experts on tornadoes, hurricanes, and thunderstorms! We have the chance of seeing all of these types of storms in South Carolina, so it is valuable information.
Important E-Mail Information
Parents,
If you send me an e-mail, please use the subject box to let me know who the e-mail is from.
For example: From Mr. Wilson - Kayla's father
If you do not do this, I will not know it is from one of my student's parents, and it will be kicked out of the system because it is an unrecognizable address.
